The "Thalassa" Sea Museum in Ayia Napa

The "Thalassa" Sea Museum in Ayia Napa is considered one of the main educational and cultural institutions in Cyprus. Its exhibits are dedicated to maritime themes, with the aim of familiarizing residents and guests of the island with the importance of the sea in the life of this island state from ancient times to the present day.

The history of the establishment begins in 1984 when, after the discovery of a shipwreck, the Museum of Sea Dwellers was founded. Eight years later, it was transformed into the Municipal Museum of Marine Life, and in 2006, it was given its current name. "Thalassa" not only tells visitors about the riches of the underwater animal and plant world but also teaches them to appreciate the value and beauty of Poseidon's domain.
